Discussing JE chapters 6-8

Hi guys,
The assignment is the same as before... comment your ideas, feelings, likes, dislikes on the chapters we read on Saturday.  Whatever opinion you have is completely valid as long as you can support it, explain it, back it up with clear explanations and examples.  Don't forget to also comment on at least one other person's ideas.  This, like last week's writing, is worth 10 points.

Oh, yes, and the deadline is Friday, March 25 at 8:00 pm again. :)

  1. I liked when Jane decided to change her life style to a more exited one: "I decided it was the moment for me to change my life", she wanted to change because she wasn´t satisfied: "I was BUSY all the time" (is comprehensive 8 years at the same place!! goddness!!) and only Miss Temple helps her to continue: "Relying greatly on the help and encouragement of my dear friend Miss Temple"
I didn´t like when Mr Rochester treats Jane as an object: "But they are entertaining each other (Mrs Fairfax and Adéle) at the moment, so I can AMUSE MYSELF", also he´s rude too "Tonight i want conversation. It´s your turn. Speak!".
I didn´t like Mr Rochester because he´s so arrogant: "Do you think i´m handsome?", "Do you think i´m intelligent?" what questions to ask to a person you know a few days!!

  2. Jane always want to change her life style, first was when went to Lowood, now she wish freedom, need change, know how is the world outside for her.
The part was amusing is when she helped that gentlemen who wasn’t handsome only for that reason she decided to helped him jaja , because ”if he had been young attractive gentleman” she could be more shy , and who knows she had the courage to help him.
Mr. Rochester for me is difficult and unpleasant person. I agree with Laura how he going to ask if he is handsome and intelligent?? I think is inappropriate question to Jane.

  3. Well Jane Eyre is more interesting now, but I didnt like the part that Helen died, because she was a good girl, and she died very young, she couldnt enjoy her life.
I liked when Jane decided to leave Loowod after eight years, "I wanted freedom... or at least a new master to serve". she wanted new things for her life and also she wanted to be in another place, so she started to look for a job as a governess.
I liked Jane's new job at Thornfield although I think is boring, because she only lived there with an old woman and a little girl, she didnt have any friend with the same age of her and she always did the same things.
I liked when Jane met Mr. Rochester, but I didnt like that he wasnt handsome, I also didnt like his personality he was so rude, but a thing to rescue is that he knew Jane personality with only a conversation, he could knew how Jane really was, "You're like a restless bird in a cage. When you get out of the cage, you'll fly very high".

  4. What I found quite interesting about those chapters, was the fact that Mr. Rochester is getting interested in Jane Eyre. Something like "falling in love". So stupidly romantic, I know! I think he's attracted of her pureness, or in his own words, "her magic". When he says: "What I really should do is change my character, and I still could.." (Page 34), I think what he's trying to say is: "Jane, maybe you're the one who will change my life for better, it's now or never!!" Really, he's asking desperately for help, love, attention, care. And Jane is asking for action, so, there you have.
I don't find anything specifically not interesting. But I really wonder what the whole story has with Mrs. Grace Poole. Maybe she's the keeper of a great revealing secret! Anyway, she's another weird character.

  5. I don't agree with my classmates, above. If Mr. Rochester was a handsome, kind, gentleman, in other words, perfect, the story would end right there, with Mr. Rochester and Jane getting married, and having happiness for the rest of their lives. All of us have beauty inside, maybe that's what Jane will have to find in Mr. Rochester. Just a point of view.

  6. I agree with Claudia because I don't like the part Helen has been dead since he died being young and also the most important thing i found in this situation is that a profile
she left her a trace of faith.

  7. Well, i agree with Laura's comment about Mr. Rochester. He was so arrogant to treat Jane like he did and also because of those stupid questions that he asked her.

  8. I agree with Clau, Jane is more interesting now.. because she´s older, she doesn´t have her tricks any more.. And Mr Rochester and Jane will get married i´m quite sure about it.. But if he wants love, as you said Pablo, there are many ways to express it not being rude.!

  9. Viviana and Larissa: Girls, besides agreeing with people, you also have to write what your personal reflections are concerning what we read, with more detail, ok? Laura, Pablo, and Lorena did a prett good job expressing their opinions... it should be something like that!

  10. I think Jane’s life is getting better, now that she’s finally decided to move forward and get a job, although her boss is a little bit peculiar I don’t think Mr. Rochester is rude, I mean Jane was looking for action but she’s too shy to make the first movement, and if she doesn’t like the way he treats her, she has to look for another job where she feels comfortable, but it’s soon to speculate that now, will see what happens next and if she can fit in. The part that was sad for me is when her best friend died, it has to be hard to lose one of the few people who cares about you, and then Miss Temple got married and moved to a distant part of the country, after that it was a lonely and boring world for her at Lowood, she did the right thing to look for new opportunities outside

  11. Well. The story is totally getting more interesting. Many years passed and Jane left Lowood and I think this was her first step to explore her own world. Perhaps because of her status as a governess she won't be free at all and now that she's living in a new large house, has started to meet new people and specially Mr. Rechester. I think many things are going to happen. although Jane scaped from a miserable and hard life of Lowood, she is going to go through many new complicated situations. I'm quite sure of that.
