Summarizing Chapters 6-8
Ok, Bruno, you know what to do here! We're all anxious to read your wonderful summary!
Life at Lowood no linger seemed so hard, as spring approached, but, with fog lying constantly in the valey, it was not healthy place for school, and by may more than the half the girls were seriously ill with typhus fever. As a result of por food and bad living conditions, many girls died. Jane and the few who had escaped illness enjoyed the beautiful summer weather, with no lessons or discipline at all. Helen was not able to walk with her, because her illness, and she never recover, and Jane decided to visit her at night. According to this part, Helen died… After this problema of typhus, everybody gave money to raise a better place for the girls, and Mr. Brockehurst lost his position as manager, and it bécame a really useful place of education. Ten years passed since then, Jane worked as a teacher for the last two years, when Mss Temple got married and moved to a distant part of the country. Then, Jane wanted to change her life, wanted to know the world outside. So she advertised in a newspaper for a job as a governess. Mrs. Fairfax contract her as the goveress for a girl under ten years old. She left Lowood, and went to Thornfield, a large gentleman´s house in the country, near a town called Millcote. Jane met Mss. Fairfax, an old lady, dressed in black, who seemed glad to have someone else to talk to, apart from the servants. But she was not the owner, its owner was a gentleman called Mr. Rochester, who was often away from home. Jane had to teach and take care of Adele, and young eight old years lady, who borne in France, and she hardly spoke english, but Jane known french very well, so she have no problema to teach Adele, despite the fact she lose concentration very easily. Jane asked Mrs Fairfax about Mr Rochester, she couldn´t talk to much about him, but at the end, she said that he was “peculiar”. Jane have the opportunity to esplore the house, and in one opportunity, she thought that she heard a ghost laugh, very scared, she asked Mss Fairfax about it, and she replied, don´t worry, is just Grace. In another opportunity, Jane had a free afternoon, as Adele was ill, she decided to walk to Hay, a villaje two miles away, to post a letter for the housekeeper. She heard a crash away, she ran into to help the man who felt down, a médium height, with wide shoulders and strong chest, dark face, with angry-looking eyes, and about thirty five years old. -She decided to help him beacuse he was not handsome- She talk to him, and helped him to walk his horse, he jumped into and went away… She returned to Thornfield, and the servants told her that Mrs Rochester had arrived, and he hurt his leg when his horse slipped on ice on the road to Hay. Jane realized that the man who she helped was Mr Rochester, many things happened during that time, Mr. Rochester liked talking to Jane, and one memorable thing that happend was, when he asked to Jane, if he was handsome, she answered that he wasn´t., he agreed with it, and the conversation continued until both of then went to sleep. You did very well in your summary Bruno! :) I'm not really worried about grammar here, all I want is for you to be able to express your understanding of what happened in the story, and you did! In the beginning, it was a bit more taken out of the book, which is ok, but you have to use quotes (" ") and what page you're borrowing the direct sentences from to show the source. Otherwise, your summary was great! Think about who the next victim will be! :)
Very good sumary Bruno. One missing thing probably is that Jane has started to feel something different about Mr. Rochester. Maybe because she never had contact with any other man or because she really started to fall in love with him. Another good point is that strange laughing in that room.. I think that is going to be a very important part when the secret shows up. ;)
